In Matthew 22:37 Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Recently my wife and I read this thought, “How do we know that we love Him? Because we desire to do what He commands, and we obey those commands because we want to please and glorify Him rather than ourselves.” Throughout the day place your current action or attitude in the blank of the following phrase. “I am ______ because I love God!" See if it makes sense. Words like “complaining” or “lazy” just do not fit. Instead, live a daily life that is “thankful” and “diligent” because you love God.
Over the past weeks, we have truly seen God’s love for us. During our recent meetings in Burleson, Fort Worth and Weatherford, Texas, we saw God encourage many lives and enhance the fellowship and unity of His people. At Victory Baptist in Burnet, Texas, a 12 year old boy accepted Christ through our Kids-4-Christ ministry. It was his first time being in church. Praise the Lord that “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) On our way north out of Texas, I pulled in to an RV dealer to replace a vent that broke during the golf ball sized hail the previous night. I noticed our right front truck tire was flat. When I called my dad who was 80 miles ahead, I learned he also had a flat tire on his rig. Thankfully, we were both safely parked near repair facilities when we discovered the tires were flat. After 3,775 miles and 346 gallons of diesel in each truck during our Texas journey, we can truly say God’s been good! On our way to a wonderful weekend meeting in Illinois, we stopped to ride up the St Louis arch. Anyone ever done it? The tram up was so tight, but what a view! Before we head to Wellsville, Ohio for the coming weekend, we will be at the northern memorial service for my mom’s dad, Ron Merrill. After years of faithful service, He went home to be with the Lord on his 75th birthday. You are invited to join us May 6th in Ashland, Ohio. Check our itinerary for details. As we gear up for our brand new summer VBS program, please pray with us for salvations, strength, and safety.
